I spent the day in the field for a water supply project in South Gippsland, one of the areas proclaimed to be most beautiful in Victoria. About a two hour drive from Melbourne, it was in fact quite a treat, with lush green rolling hills around every turn. We were driving and walking through fields of cows and sheep to look at pipeline diversions, pumping stations, and reservoirs. I wish I had a better picture, but the third picture shows terracettes which were present on many of the hillsides in the region. There were massive hills dominated by these long earthen rows, which are attributed to mass movements including landslides, rotational slips with earth flows, and soil creep. It seems they are present particularly in areas of intensive sheep grazing.
