Alex made the rounds to wake us all up and get the group moving Saturday morning. We drove into Hobart to go to the Salamenca Markets. They are proclaimed to be the best markets in Australia, with lots of homemade food in additional to crafts, clothes, and one-off eccentricities. The strangest discovery was moon pads – the hippy environmentalist alternative to disposable sanitary napkins, similar in some ways to a cloth diaper. Yuck! We had lunch at a cafĂ© called Sais, then headed back to the farm. We had a relaxing and scheming afternoon, as it was one of the girls’ birthdays and we made cupcakes to surprise her. Hughie grilled steaks for dinner, then we played twister, jenga, charades, and had a giant bonfire in the paddocks.
