All over the place

This week I feel like I got a tour of every outer suburb in Melbourne. I was in Werribee (zoo) and South Yarra (Jam Factory) Saturday, Elwood Sunday (triathlon), Wastonia Monday night (Vitality & Wellness seminar my friend Kaz hosted), South Melbourne Tuesday night (Landmark), Moonee Ponds Wednesday night (dinner party with friends), and Niddrie Thursday night (Urban Life church group). I've been in every direction outward from the city and on every form of public transport.

This is one of the first times in a long time I've really missed having a car. It took me nearly two hours to get home Monday evening when it would have taken me 15-20 minutes to drive. However, had a driven, I would have missed out on an incredibly bizarre encounter on the train with a weirdo and his dog. He was just a real talker and asked me if I'd heard of Slim Dusty, an Australian country music legend, proceeded to sing TWO full songs, and ran his trap until I left the train running when we got back in the city. Don't you wish you got to ride a train?

Wednesday night was a real treat as my friend Stephen spent FIVE hours preparing a gourmet Sicilian feast. It was some kind of steak wrapped around cheese, garlic, and basil with lamb shanks and Italian sausage in a tomato and spiced sauce over hand-rolled pasta. Amazing. Six of us dined by candlelight and jazz music on his deck on a beautiful evening. I even enjoyed wine with dinner, which I've been avoiding in my focus on being healthy.
