My great friends Mel and Waz welcomed their new son Archer William Yates on Thursday, Feb 26, 2009 while I was in New Zealand. In true Mel form, he arrived exactly on time (on his due date). Waz may well have been the most excited expectant father I've ever seen, delving into the research and proudly sharing the ultrasound photos and video leading up to the big day. He's going to make a great dad.
And Mel... where do I begin? She braved 32 hours of labor completely drug-free! Insane some may say. She did everything perfectly, loved being pregnant, and loves being a mum (as they say in Oz). She is glowing and happy and loving every second, bouncing around giving expectant mothers a pep talk only days after doing it herself. She says it's everything and more than she imagined (and knowing Mel, she imagined in finite detail). She continues to be amazed by the miracle of it all including her quickly fading bump and fastest weight loss imaginable.
