St Kilda Farewell

Phill and I hit up Fitzroy Street for dinner and drinks tonight in honor of our last night together. We're both headed out in different directions tomorrow night and I'm moving into my new place on Saturday. We had to appreciate the action of St Kilda one last time. (In true Grey St fashion, we saw several ladies of the night and the fastest turnover ever! One girl was barely out of one car before she was in another.) Phill stumbled onto this perfect little bar, Barney Allen's, which was rather near the beach and boasted spectacular ambiance. We tucked into a back corner of the bar on a nice comfy couch where we enjoyed a Tolarnos burger (I have no idea what that means, but it was absolutely delicious - possibly the best ever!!) and a bellini. We went onto the highly recommended George Lane Bar, down an alley way off of Grey St. We were the only two patrons. Then again, it was only 8:30 PM when we arrived. We enjoyed a couple drinks and had the place hopping with nearly 10 people (oh my!) by the time we left. We came back to the flat, read through The Beat together (one of the weekly local papers for live music and other happenings), and headed for bed at a reasonable time. We're so responsible.

Tonight made us both so thankful to be living our lives in Australia. Melbourne is such an amazing city, with so many different pockets of culture and different vibes, so many restaurants, so many venues, live music everywhere (Lily Allen was playing at the venue across the street), and endless social opportunities. What an experience! I will so miss Phill. We've become good friends in our few months together and it will be so strange not to hear him singing in the shower in the morning, not to come home to him, and not to share so much of life with him. We already have plans to meet up mid-week next week so I know it's not as if I'll never see him again, but it will be different. Change! It's constant it seems.
