Jade invited me to join her at an art and fashion launch party in South Yarra Friday night. I'd never been to one so of course I had to go! Apparently these things happen nearly weekly (with free drinks!) - you just have to know the right people to get invited. Fortunately, Jade surrounds herself with models, actors, and musicians which generally gets you onto some pretty good lists.
Jade scouts the crowd. She knew quite a few.
There was a wide range of art from stockpiles of pizza boxes and carpet rolls to paintings, collages, handbag displays, clothing lines, statues, and even live art.
The artist himself is perfecting his bicycle styrograph. I peddled it just to test it out. The wheels work well but the handle bar action could use a bit of work - just an independent observation.
This launch party was in fru fru South Yarra but the crowd was anything but. They were eclectic, punk, grungy, and all seeming to make a statement. It's funny when everyone's hair is spiked out in the same funky do - doesn't make it look quite so original. This guy's pants were shocking - one leg white, the other black. Okay...
Luke met us a bit later and the three of us headed to Fiesta on Toorak Rd for some good Mexican cuisine. I introduced Jade to margaritas which she'd never had before. She is of course a fan.
