Edith Falls

Here's the inside of my swag. It's got a thick 'waterproof' canvas outside layer encasing a mattress with a flap to cover your head. So this is what I slept in every night, night after night after night (inside another sleeping bag). Actually, the first night I slept inside I really missed the feeling of sleeping outside and being under the stars.

We started our day with a drive to Katherine, the third largest township in the Northern Territory (NT). The town of Katherine was named after the daughter of the man who surveyed 2,700km of telegraph line through NT. The placement of repeater stations every 300km actually started towns such as Alice Springs. Not far from Katherine, we went for a swim at Edith Falls in Nitmiluk Park. Here I am swimming with crocodiles... freshwater ones which are not a threat to humans. To be truthful, I actually didn't see any crocs myself but they are known to be in these waters and mainly come out at night to feed.

me at Edith Falls with all the crocs.

Stefanie, Prisca, Kat and I braved it and swam all the way to the falls.

We had a bbq burger lunch at Edith Falls.

Our tour ended in Darwin. A bunch of us stayed at Melaleuca on Mitchell Backpackers, and my bed was the top bunk on the front right.

The whole crew from the tour met up for a night out at the Vic Hotel, the oldest bar in Darwin. Here's Danish Martin and me.

The line wrapped around the pool table room to pick up our free dinner in the room behind (special deal for all the tour guides bringing beer buying customers).

The bar orchestrated all kinds of games to award drinks to participants. Prisca and Kat are playing heads or tails. Oh bring back those Contiki memories.

Lolo best mimicked the didjeridoo sound with this makeshift vacuum cleaner instrument.

Here's a group shot at Vic Hotel.

Prisca won the scooter racing competition.

Then we headed downstairs for some dancing. It was a late night. I got to bed about 2:30am and was up at 5:30am to get ready for the next tour.
